Frequently Asked
Questions, answered.
No. AssetIndex is not a bank, broker, or financial advisor. We do not hold your money, manage investments, or provide regulated financial services. We are a software platform that helps you maintain a private register of where your assets are held — the institutions you bank with, the firms managing your pensions, the properties you own — so the right people can be informed if you're no longer able to do so yourself.
No. AssetIndex is designed to be metadata-only. We store the name and location of each asset and the instructions you write for your trusted contacts — but we never see or hold passwords, account numbers, PINs, or login credentials to any of your accounts. If you wouldn't write it on a piece of paper for safekeeping, you shouldn't write it here either.
You decide. Each trusted contact is assigned a permission level — View, Edit, or Full Access. View-level contacts only see that an asset exists. Edit and Full Access contacts receive the full record, including your instructions. Full Access contacts also receive a label identifying them as your primary point of contact. Nothing is shared until your grace period expires.
AssetIndex doesn't release information the moment a check-in is missed. After your scheduled cadence elapses, a grace period begins — its length is up to you. Within the grace period, you receive a warning email asking you to confirm you're active. As long as you check in before the grace period ends, nothing happens. Disclosure only occurs if the entire grace period passes without a response.
Yes. You can add, edit, or remove contacts at any time. You can also change a contact's permission level — increasing or decreasing what they would receive in a disclosure event. All changes take effect immediately. The only thing you cannot reverse is a disclosure that has already happened.
We take this seriously because we'd want to know too. If Nexvira Technologies were to wind down operations, account holders would be notified well in advance with options to export their data. Our role is to operate the registry — not to hold your information hostage. As a metadata-only platform, exporting your asset records is straightforward.
Yes. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS) and stored on infrastructure that encrypts data at rest. We use industry-standard security practices for authentication and session management. We are continuing to enhance our security architecture and will publish detailed practices as the platform matures.
